A quality league needs quality refs! In consultation with Football Canada, SPYFFL supplies trained officials for each game. SYPFFL is always on the lookout for youth looking to get involved and we are hiring for the upcoming spring season. 

WHO CAN OFFICIATE? 

• You must be 15 years old to apply.
• There is a fair amount of running and moving around during the game so having a good level of fitness is an asset.
• Team players! Refs work in pairs and there is a chance you won't work with the same person for every game so you must be adaptable! 
• Having a background or general knowledge of the game of football is an asset!
  
  

WHY OFFICIATE? 

• You get paid while being active! 
• Stay involved in the game of football 
• Socialize with people in the community
• Opportunity to travel as a Regional or even National Referee
• Progress into a junior, university or professional level official

HOW TO GET STARTED?

Once your appilcation has been accepted and you are hired on as a SPYFFL Official, you will take the Level 1 e-learning course. Next, you will attend an in-person clinic followed by a written exam, on-the-field training and eventually, officiate an exhibition game in which you will be evaluated. ALL training is paid for when you become a SPYFFL official. All first year officials must become Level 1 certified with Football Canada prior to officiating a game. Second year officials with SPYFFL will have the opportunty to pursue their Level 2 ceritifcation as well. 


COMPENSATION?

SPYFFL league officials starting wage is $15/hr. Wage increases are determined by experience with SPYFFL and certification level. All training is provided.
